Other things done instead of working on dissertation.

> Saw Laurencin paintings at the art museum. (Paris,... so what?)

> Saw Munch paintings at another art museum. (Awesome, not as dark as you think.)

> Saw Bach's 'Matthew's Passion' by the Thomenchor (The real deal) at the Symphony Hall.

> Took a class from the premier academic in my field. (Rod Ellis)

> Made cakes and gave them away.

> Made spaghetti.

> Friend Blake came over from Tokyo.

> Got Bose speakers that hook up wireless for my bathroom, so I can listen in the shower.
(Now the whole house plays the same music)

> Downloaded lots of music and beefed up the sound library.

> Watched 2 years worth of Grey's Anatomy on 'youku' where you can watch any TV show like a youtube screen.

That, and made a post to your blog. Rod and I call this "finals behavior" We still do it thirty years after our last final or big paper. It is readily recognizable behavior. It's amazing what wonders await in the world when there is a big project looming overhead.
